Amaran is a 1992 Tamil action gangster film directed and produced by K. Rajeshwar. The film features Karthik and Bhanupriya in the lead roles, with Radha Ravi, Prathap K. Pothan and Shammi Kapoor playing supporting roles.
The film had musical score by Adithyan and was released on 15 January 1992. Actor Karthik became a playback singer for the first time in this film.
The film was one of the first in Tamil cinema shot in the expensive 70 mm film format. The film had scenes inspired from the American film The Godfather (1972).
