veeraiyan tamil movie

Veeraiyan is set in a small town in Tanjore and takes us to the people who have settled over there. A decent ambience is established with their small lives, hopes and ambitions. A doting father (Aadukalam Naresh), who earns his living by manual labour, has his hopes pinned on his son (Vasanth), who is all set to appear for his Class 10 exams in a while. The dutiful son, who is loved by one and all in the village, gets embroiled in trouble when his friend falls in love with a girl, who happens to be the daughter of a bigshot (Vela Ramamoorthy).
Following this, Vasanth is fired from his school, and the boy has a tough time hiding it from his father.
Meanwhile, a three-member gang of anti-socials (Inigo Prabhakar, Kayal Vincent and Pritheesha) meets Vasanth in an unusual situation, after which the latter joins them. The gang promises Vasanth that they will take care of his educational expenses and the boy joins a private tutorial. Inigo falls in love with Shiny, and starts dreaming of a life with her.
On the day of the announcement of the result, Naren gets the shock of his life when he goes to his son’s school and learns that he has been barred from writing exam there. But Vasanth, with the help of the gang, manages to pass the exam and wins the trust of his father. When everything seems to be going well, fate plays spoilsport in his life.
One of the major positive aspects of the film is the performance of Aadukalam Naren. As a loving and concerned father, the actor overshadows everyone else in the film. The other actors are decent and apt for their characters. Veeraiyan has a few moments, but the disorganised screenplay hampers the narration from being effective.
